Facts Not Attacks

Since I was a child, I have been obsessed with sharks. In the summer of 1987, when the first Shark Week aired, my family was on a summer vacation. My brothers and I just wanted to stay inside and watch TV shows that were all about sharks! Back then the programs were much more based in education, but over the last 10 or so years, Shark Week seemed to be more concerned with the sensationalism of attack shows with blood splattered graphics. This is something that I felt did much more harm than good, playing up the ‘eating machine monster’ reputation that sharks already have.

In 2011, I created a Facebook page to help spread information and educate about sharks and the brutal act of shark finning. Later in 2015, I created an Instagram account as well. Here are some of the pieces that I created for both of these pages.
